March, 2026

Greetings friends and neighbors.  Hopefully the worst part of our winter is over and we can look forward to a refreshing spring.  Sure sounds good to me.

With the start to the new year, we had election of our officers and three board of directors.  The present officers were re-elected for another two year term. Scott Larsen president, Dean Larsen-Vice president, Kim Phillips-secretary and Cheryl Grabner treasurer.  Board of directors elected to a three year term are Laurel Franz, Kyle Zimmer and Larry McDermott.  The rest of the board consists of: Vernita Fink, Jana Secord, Kat Awishus, Jim Moore, Duane Foote, Jodi Bohn and Marty Johnson.  If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact any one listed above.

    Events planned for 2026 include: Easter egg hunt-April 4th, Youth Days/Chicken b-b-q June 14th, 2nd annual golf outing-August 1st, Waukau Fest-Sept 12th, Halloween party Oct. 25th, Soup-er Supper/Bake sale-Nov. 1th and Children’s Christmas party-Dec. 6th

The Easter egg hunt on April 4th will begin at 9:00 and all children 10 and under are invited and must be accompanied by an adult.  The youngest will begin first and do their best to find as much candy as they can and then it will go by age groups until all have had a chance to collect what they can.  Milk and donuts will be provided.

I would like to give a big shoutout to everyone that helped us do a huge upgrade to our building.  Thanks to the volunteers that did a lot of pre-work (removing pictures, removing staples from walls, etc.) and for the generous donations so we could complete this task.  All woodwork was removed and painted as well as the walls and ceiling.  It looks magnificent. Go to waukaucyac.org to see what has happened so far.

We are working with Omro High School on presenting up to two $500 scholarships this year. The primary requirements will be that they have volunteered at some of our activities and are going on to college to further their education.

Youth Days/Chicken b-b-q is June 14th and the applications for Miss Rural Winnebago are on-line at waukaucyac.org.  We will be making phone calls in the next few weeks asking for volunteers to help with this major fund raising event.  Hopefully, the weather will be a little kinder to us this year but I guess we really don’t have any control over that.

Another big fund raiser for us will be our second annual golf outing.  This will be at Utica Golf Course on August 1st.  Watch our website for more information and as soon as we have the registration and sponsorship forms available, we will have them posted.

Sept. 12th will be our annual Waukau Fest.  This is open to the public and a special invite goes out to all veterans.  Our youth group will have a food stand.

Our facility is also available for family reunions, birthday parties, weddings, graduations, etc.  There is a calendar on the website, but it is a reference only.  Dean Larsen has the master calendar so if you are looking for any particular date you can always call him at 920-420-0024.  With the remodeling that we have done we are stating that staples and nails are strictly prohibited.

We will have another newsletter out around the end of May with more information about the Chicken b-b-q, the golf outing and Waukau Fest.
